After four years of work, I can’t believe it’s finally the day!

For reference, the painting above with a colorful town are the final endpages for this book. As any author/illustrator loves to do, I managed to sneak in some tributes to those who made this book possible. One I didn’t mention is that I’m actually in there too! You can find me below on the left, drawing on a bench and watching Olive and her family. Quite poetic right?

I don’t really have much to say today, except that it’s quite weird that it’s now officially out into the world. I set up a window display for this book at Books of Wonder on Sunday and we had lots of people stop by and pick up a book because of the window. It was really odd to see the book in the hands of other people that aren’t my editor or my friends and family. I guess it’s time for Olive to take on her life now and it’s entirely out of my hands! Wild.

I feel like I just ran a four year marathon and I’m going to go now and have a good cry. Then stuff my face with some pastries.
