Today’s is a short section! When I went to London, I took a foundation course at Central Saint Martins (CSM) which is a school very famous for it’s fashion. I, however, was not into fashion remotely at all and I have no idea why I decided to attend. The course I took ran for 9 months and was a “foundation in arts and design” which really included everything and nothing at the same time.
A lot of people always ask me why I decided to leave CSM and ultimately it was because all of their art courses were structured more like MFAs as opposed to BFAs. This meant that I was paying for them to give me a “theme” and a designated amount of time to just explore and do my own thing. They didn’t teach figure drawing, or painting techniques, and I was just largely left to my own devices which stunted my growth. So the decision was made… onwards to SVA I went!
