I Think I Belong in Final Destination

Lian injures herself... AGAIN.

So uh… this week’s newsletter will unfortunately not be illustrated because guess who got her finger torn open by a metal fan?

LOL.

It’s me…

My friend Kait said I belong in a Final Destination movie considering I always injure myself in the silliest fucking ways. If you recall in 2022 I broke my ankle walking up the subway stairs:

Anyways what happened was that we have an incredibly ancient metal fan at home:

The culprit

When my sister, Adam and I were eating dinner, the fan was set on high and blowing too hard at us so I went to move it. As it’s made of metal, the top is much heavier than the base so when I tried to move it it toppled over. As I tried to grab it my forefinger went through the much too large spaces of “protective” wiring and got absolutely FUCKED by the metal blades.

We panicked cause I was bleeding a ton and it looked like some flesh or bone was coming out and so we quickly Ubered to the emergency room. I was sooo nervous that I may have done bad damage to it as it is my main drawing finger aside from my thumb.

Luckily after a check up the (very rough) doctor said it would be okay and there was no permanent damage. Phewwww. I got a tetanus shot, a couple antibiotics and have to keep it wrapped and not move it for the next couple of weeks while it heals.

We got home and wanted to throw out the fan but my dad insisted on keeping it because “it’s sentimental” so it has now been banished to the coffee roasting balcony for my dad, and my dad only, to use. When we told my dad what happened this mfer said “Oh yeah! My forefinger’s been cut loads by that fan, as well as this finger and this finger!” RIP to me.

I guess I now have a fear of fans???

Anyways I told Adam to get a photo of my finger cause it was gnarly and I wanted to show friends so here is the censored version for your viewing pleasure :)

A bit of housekeeping too, Adam and I will be taking a two week trip to Japan next week!!! We will be hitting up Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo and it’ll be Adam’s first time in Japan!!!! Very very exciting. It’ll be my first time in Osaka, but I’ve been to Tokyo and Kyoto before. If you want to, you can check out my previous Kyoto diary here.
