More importantly, my parents are visiting me!
I haven’t seen them since I visited them in pre-pandemic Taiwan late 2019. We’re planning on going to San Francisco because I’ve always wanted to visit SF and it’s a shorter flight for them from Taiwan.
I’m genuinely SO excited and that excitement totally isn’t amplified by the fact that my dad recently won an Apple watch at a work raffle which he’s promised to give me when they visit. It’s not like I’ve wanted an Apple watch for the longest time but could never find the reasoning or funds to justify such a ridiculous purchase. Totally not.
But all joking aside, the excitement is mellowed out by my general anxiety in planning a trip. There’s so many things to take into account and my little brain cannot stop spiraling at every choice I have to make and plan. Luckily I have Adam to help me out in times of trouble.
Anyways, here’s the convoluted travel plan:
I’m pretty excited because it’s been a while since I’ve done any sort of leisurely trip without worrying about work. The plan is to (hopefully) wrap up work before I leave so that I can just enjoy myself! I’ve been working full time since I graduated and even before graduation I was worried about work. But luckily, my next two book project deadlines are beautifully lined up for fall/winter which means that I get a SUMMER VACATION!
I’m going to try to enjoy myself and maybe pick up my sketchbook again on this trip. But if I don’t, that’s totally fine too! I’m just going to enjoy myself and do what I want without worrying which is going to be insanely difficult because I am a worrier at heart. Literally as I wrote that sentence my brain was like: “Oh you said you don’t want to worry?? Here are 10,000 reasons your trip could go wrong and why you should worry.”
Anyways, if you have any recommendations for places to eat or visit please let me know so I can stop bothering Adam with my anxiety research and planning!
Highly recommend A Case for Making art supply store in SF! They make their own hand ground/mixed watercolors and they're so luscious. It's an absolute artist's dream. I hope the trip is amazing and best case scenario all around!
Good opportunity to visit Ding Tai Fung if you’re missing the flavours of home! (You may wanna reserve ahead of time though)
